About this Festival

Makar Sankranti marks the transition of the Sun into the zodiac sign of Capricorn. It is one of the few Hindu festivals observed on a fixed solar date. Celebrated with kite flying, sesame-jaggery sweets, and ritual dips in holy rivers.
