Cancellation Rules (Mangal Dosha Bhanga)
- Mars in its own sign (Mesha, Vrishchika) or exalted (Makara) loses much of its malefic effect.
- Mars in Karka, Simha, Kumbha or Meena is considered weak and the dosha is reduced.
- When both partners are Manglik, the dosha is mutually cancelled.
- Mars aspected by or conjunct Jupiter or the Moon is greatly pacified.
- For people born with Karka or Simha Lagna, Mars is a yogakaraka/benefic and the dosha does not apply.
- A strong, well-placed Jupiter in a kendra or trikona reduces the impact.
- The dosha is said to weaken naturally after the age of 28.
About Mangal Dosha
Mangal Dosha (also called Kuja Dosha or being "Manglik") occurs when Mars sits in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house. Because Mars is fiery and aggressive, these placements are believed to create friction in marriage. In matchmaking, a Manglik is traditionally paired with another Manglik so the doshas neutralise. Modern practice weighs many cancellation factors, so a Manglik result alone is rarely a deal-breaker.
