About this Festival

Guru Purnima is dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers. It is celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Ashadha. The day commemorates Maharshi Vyasa, who is regarded as the Adi-Guru of the Hindu tradition, as it is believed to be his birth anniversary.
