Buddha Purnima, also called Vesak, celebrates the birth, enlightenment, and death of Gautama Buddha. For Hindus, Buddha is considered the ninth avatar of Vishnu. Devotees visit temples and monasteries, offer prayers, and distribute food to the poor.
