About this Festival

Janmashtami celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna at midnight on the eighth day of the dark fortnight of Bhadrapada month. Temples are elaborately decorated, bhajans are sung throughout the night, and the idol of baby Krishna is given a ceremonial bath at midnight.
